Overview
The Product
Safox is an organisation dedicated to saving foxes. The organization needs a tool that helps people learn about and save foxes in danger. Safox’s main goal is to make people love foxes and take action. To make the seamless and enjoyable.
Role
UX designer leading the app and responsive website design from conception to delivery
The Problem
People do not access to all the information at one place. Information from different make people give up. There is lack of knowledge about endangered species of foxes and how they can help.
Goals
Design an app that will improve education on the topic of foxes and help people take action.
Reasearch
I visited many website on fox and read reviews to come up with interview questions, which were then used to conduct user interviews. Most interview participants reported feeling badly about foxes being ill treated for their fur, but they didn’t take action as its difficult to find where to start. The feedback received through research made it very clear that users would be open and willing to work towards saving Foxes if they had access to an easy-to-use tool to help guide them.

Ideation & Prototyping
Competitive Analysis
An audit of a few competitor’s products provided direction on gaps and opportunities to address with the Safox app.

Crazy 8
I used the crazy 8 method to come with ideas. Main focus was to provide more information and make “take action” processes easy.

Lo-Fi Wireframes
After ideating and drafting some paper wireframes, I created the initial designs for the Safox app. These designs focused on making info available at one place and help contribution process easy.

Tests
Usability Study: Parameters
I conducted moderated task-based usability testing sessions with three participants in total via Zoom. This also helped me to feel confident that I would be receiving reliable feedback concerning the adequacy of my design solutions. Here are my findings
Study Type:
Unmoderated usability study
Length
30 -60 Minutes
Participants
5 Participants
Study Type:

Usability Study: Findings
Find Information
Most of the user found it difficult to navigate to sections they want. For example - difficult to find an option to donate.
Need more information
Many users wanted to learn more about foxes. Also latest news and status.
Be engaged
Most of the user wanted latest news about Fox world.
Refining the Design
Based on the insights from the usability studies, I applied design changes like providing a clear section from the home screen to take action screen. Included news on top of home page for regular visitors/users.

Responsive Design
With the app designs completed, I started work on designing the responsive website. I used the Safox sitemap to guide the organizational structure of each screen’s design to ensure a cohesive and consistent experience across devices.

Learnings and Possible next steps
Impact:
Users shared that the app is clean and easy to use. The news feature brings back the user to see what's happening in the fox world.
One user said “Well organized and clean app”.
What I learned:
I learned that even though the problem I was trying to solve was a big one, diligently going through each step of the design process and aligning with specific user needs helped me come up with solutions that were both feasible and useful.
Next Steps
-
Conduct research on how easy and useful the app is in saving foxes.
-
Add more rewards and merchandise shopping option.
